Jim Lyon is Secretary/Treasurer of the Rim Country Educational Alliance Board of Directors. He also serves on the Payson Parks and Recreation Commission.
Mr. Lyon has been involved in higher education for more than forty years and has also worked in a variety of corporate leadership positions. He held executive positions in market share leading companies in the areas of sales, marketing, software development, and professional services for colleges and universities.
Most recently, Mr. Lyon was involved in the deployment of large, complex software systems for higher education with a specialization in the planning and implementation of large software projects, including risk management and executive sponsorship. He was also the executive sponsor for the development and installation of a comprehensive administrative software solution at Arizona State University and Maricopa County Community College District.
As the former General Manager of the Cedar Crestone higher education practice, Mr. Lyon was responsible for maintaining several key business alliances. He also managed the development and delivery of a variety of professional services designed to support all aspects of strategic planning, software selection, process innovation, implementation readiness, project planning and software implementation for colleges and universities.
During a seven-year period as a senior administrator at Cornell University, Mr. Lyon was responsible for a variety of student services, including the areas of admissions, financial aid, student employment and student finance. During that time, he was the founding administrator for the Ivy League Bursar’s Association, which includes representatives from all Ivy League institutions and several other prestigious private universities.
Mr. Lyon received his B.S. degree in economics from Cornell University.
